Did you know there’s a wealth of support available, whether you’re a first-year or returning university student? Financial aid, mentorship programs and support services are designed to help you navigate higher education without feeling overwhelmed. Many of these are specially tailored to support first-generation university students—the first in their families to attend university—address their unique challenges.

Find the financial aid resource right for your needs

Financial aid is essential for many students, including first-generation students, who may not have the same support as their peers. Key financial supports include student grants, loans, scholarships and bursaries like the First Generation Bursary at the Nipissing University or Wilfrid Laurier University.

Additional resources are also available for students with specific backgrounds, such as first-generation students, athletes and Indigenous Peoples, ensuring that everyone—including you—has the opportunity to succeed in university.
