Universities Canada is a voluntary non-governmental, membership-based organization
Founded in 1911, our association is a non-governmental, membership-based organization headquartered in Ottawa. Our members are public and private not-for-profit Canadian universities, and we are governed by a board of directors consisting of university presidents.
We are not a national accreditation body. Membership in the association requires universities to meet strict criteria and adhere to set principles of institutional quality assurance that must be reaffirmed every five years. This reinforces the recognition of a Canadian university degree around the world as a high-quality academic achievement.
We are funded primarily through membership fees.
