Universities Canada’s 2022 survey on institutional services for Indigenous Students and Reconciliation
Universities Canada’s survey on Indigenous education collects information from universities across the country to better understand the landscape of institutional services and programs offered to Indigenous students and the work being done to advance truth and reconciliation.
The 2022 survey demonstrated that progress is being made at institutions to advance reconciliation and Indigenization. Institutions are working to answer the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, expand Indigenous programming, support Indigenous students and increase Indigenous representation in leadership roles across institutions.
Important progress has been made, but Canadian universities understand the gaps that remain and acknowledge the need for ongoing work. University education for Indigenous students and advancing reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples at universities in Canada are core priorities for our member institutions and our organization. As leaders in communities across the country, Canada’s universities acknowledge and are committed to upholding, their responsibility to advancing truth and reconciliation with First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples.
