The liberal arts: a global conversation

What new directions and innovations in programming and teaching are universities adopting to meet employer demand for the skills and abilities nurtured through the study of the social sciences and humanities? And how can we better communicate the significant value of the liberal arts in an increasingly technological and globalized world?

University leaders from Canada, the U.S. and Asia discussed the future or the liberal arts and how it matters to our collective future at a two-day workshop, held in March 2016. Trends include the increasing role of technology in liberal arts; enhancing equity and inclusion; and new approaches that build in entrepreneurship and management skills as part of the learning experience.
