Stéphanie Montreuil is the Director of Communications at Universities Canada. With more than 25 years of experience in strategic communications, public affairs and stakeholder engagement, she has held senior leadership roles across government, national associations, organized labour and the private sector. She brings extensive experience in reputation management, advocacy, executive counsel and navigating complex public policy environments.
In her current role, Stéphanie leads Universities Canada’s communications strategy, overseeing internal and external communications, media relations, digital engagement and organizational messaging. She works closely with senior leadership to advance the association’s strategic priorities, strengthen its national profile and communicate the value and contributions of Canada’s universities. Her approach combines strategic thinking, sound judgment and an ability to translate complex issues into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.
Before joining Universities Canada, Stéphanie held senior communications and public affairs positions with the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada, the Ottawa Board of Trade, the Railway Association of Canada and other national organizations. Known for her collaborative leadership style and ability to build relationships across sectors, she is committed to strengthening organizational effectiveness, fostering meaningful stakeholder engagement and delivering results.
Fluently bilingual in French and English, Stéphanie is based in Ottawa and has a longstanding interest in governance, public policy and organizational leadership.
