OTTAWA – Canada is building and strengthening long-term connections with higher education, research and innovation partners in Brazil, for the benefit of people of both countries. International education practitioners, language education experts, senior policy-makers and industry leaders from both countries are gathering in São Paulo, Brazil March 20-22 for the second Canada-Brazil Language Education and Workforce Forum.

Participants will discuss opportunities to enhance and grow bilateral collaboration in higher education, research and innovation. Brazil is a key strategic partner for Canada.

The gathering is the latest in a series of initiatives designed to strengthen higher education collaboration between Canada and Brazil.  A delegation of Canadian university presidents participated in a mission to Brazil in April 2012, coordinated by Universities Canada and led by His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada.

The forum is co-organized by Universities Canada, Languages Canada, Colleges and Institutes Canada, Brazilian Association for International Education (Associacao Brasileira de Educacao Internacional) and the Languages without Borders (Idiomas sem Frontieras) program of the Brazilian Ministry of Education, with the support and collaboration of the Canadian Consulate General in São Paulo and the government of Canada’s Global Opportunities for Associations program.
