Equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives at Canadian universities
Victoria Forum inaugural report puts emphasis on diversity and inclusion in a changing Canadian environment and economy
The University of Victoria, in partnership with Global Affairs Canada, organized the inaugural Victoria Forum in 2017. This event brought business leaders, policy makers, academics, civil society, and Indigenous communities together to discuss ideas for a better world under the theme of diversity and inclusion.
Among the 38 recommendations from the forum is the need to develop a global education strategy that equips young Canadians of all backgrounds to succeed both at home and abroad. Increasing student outbound mobility, especially to Asia, is identified as a priority. Investing in Indigenous prosperity is also identified as key to the socio-economic development of Canada.
