University of New Brunswick opens new gender and sexual diversity safe space
In February 2018, UNB opened the new 203 Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity. The Centre offers LGBTQIA2S+ (lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgendered, queer, intersex, asexual, two-spirit) students, faculty, and staff a safe space for gathering and socializing.
The space will be run by an advisory board made up of students, faculty, and staff. As a community-driven space, volunteer-run, the board is accepting suggestions from the university community as it develops its programming.
The space aims to improve the mental and physical health of the LGBTQIA2S+ community at UNB.
