University of Alberta creates a database of Canadian disability-inclusive sport and recreation programs

The Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation at the University of Alberta is creating the first national database of all disability-inclusive sport and recreation programs in Canada.

This database will serve as a tool to identify the policies, procedures, and programs that drive people with disabilities to participate in sport and recreation programs, as well as those that create barriers to their participation. When complete, the database will be made available to researchers and practitioners online.

This will be the first study of inclusive movement communities in Canada. Findings will also be made accessible to students, policy-makers and participants of sport and recreation through a captioned video in French, English, and American Sign Language.
