Biography

Annie Barrette joined Universities Canada in September 2023 and leads the development and implementation of a multi-year strategic plan to guide the association’s research, policy development, communications and advocacy on a range of priority issues. Annie serves as a member of the organization’s senior management committee.

Prior to joining Universities Canada, Annie worked for the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC) and Canadian Blood Services in public affairs and marketing roles. Notably, she orchestrated government relations and communications campaigns that elevated Canada’s faculties of medicine and illuminated the compelling stories of recipients, bolstering blood, stem cell and cord blood donation drives.

With a consistent approach to fostering relationships with media, stakeholders and partners, Annie is dedicated to achieving goals. Annie holds a bachelor of arts in communications studies from Laurentian University, a post-graduate diploma in public relations from Cambrian College and a master’s in political management from Carleton University.
