The McGill University Phythotron has a wide variety of controlled environment equipment. Research: molecular biology, role of plant transposons in gene diversification.

Macdonald Campus Farm in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, is an experimental and demonstration farm dedicated to teaching and research. It strives to be an innovative leader at the cutting edge of agricultural technology.

Parasitology Core Facilities (PCF), a centralized shared research resource that provides access to instruments, technologies, services (maintenance) and expert consultation in histology, microscopy and real-time PCR.

Large and Small Research Units: LARU for large-animal surgery and experiments; SARU for the understanding of basic scientific issues and/or as preliminary models for large-animal/human research studies.

Grands projets

Building capacity for sustainable livelihoods and health through public-private linkages in agriculture and health systems proposes to implement an integrated intervention through government, civil, and private institutions to improve household economic well-being, gender equity, health and social wellbeing of vulnerable females, and young child physical and cognitive development.

Accelerating innovations to adapt agro-environments to climate change: The Eastern Canadian Plant Phenotyping Platform (ECP3) a collaborative initiative between McGill University and the University of Sherbrooke. The ECP3 research program will develop new crop cultivars and precision agricultural tools and management practices adapted to climate change in Eastern Canada.

Elsa Vasseur, Assistant Prof. and NSERC/ Novalait/ Dairy Farmers of Canada/Valacta Industrial Research Chair in Sustainable Life of Dairy Cattle. Research program: Cow Comfort and Management; Cow Longevity and Environment and Society.

Jianguo (Jeff) Xia, Assistant Prof. and Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Bioinformatics and Big data Analytics. Research: Understanding important biological, environmental and nutritional factors on health and disease.

Programmes spéciaux et apprentissage intégré au travail

The Consortium for Research, Innovation and Transformation in Agri-Food (R.I.T.A.) led by Dr Salwa Karboune is a national initiative federating all the industry and academia members of the Quebec food processing ecosystem around precompetitive projects and open innovation training.

The Centre for Indigenous Peoples’ Nutrition and Environment (CINE) led by Dr Murray Humphries was created in response to a need expressed by Aboriginal Peoples for participatory research and education to address their concerns about the integrity of their traditional food systems.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program allowing students to develop entrepreneurial skills for designing and managing food, agribusiness and environmental ventures.
